CSPA Player Etiquette and Guidelines
At CSPA, our mission is simple yet powerful:
Sharing the love and fun of pickleball with our community through competitive and recreational play, while modeling generosity, sportsmanship, camaraderie, and respect for all.
To support this mission, we ask all players to follow a set of etiquette and guidelines designed to create a positive, welcoming environment on and off the courts. These practices help us strengthen our community, ensure fair play, and make pickleball enjoyable for everyone.
Arranging Play and Sharing the Courts
The Heritage Park and Camano Courts are public courts and are generally first come first served. But, to ease sharing the Camano Courts, the Camano Tennis and Pickleball groups have mutually agreed upon designated hours:
-
Tennis Hours : Sun-Fri 8-11:00a
-
Pickleball Hours : Sun-Fri 11:00-2:30p, Sat 8-2:00p
CLARIFICATION from Island County: When court space is available, pickleball and tennis players may use open courts during the other sport’s designated hours.
For example, if a pickleball group is playing on an open court during tennis hours and tennis players arrive that would need the court space, the pickleball group should finish their current game and then vacate the court. The same courtesy applies in reverse for tennis players during pickleball hours.
Tennis and Pickleball Players should rotate on and off the court(s) during non-designated hours (first come first serve hours).
If there is ANY conflict. We ask you to be courteous, do not engage, to record, walk away and contact a CSPA Board member.
When players are waiting, rotate off the courts using the Paddle Rack Guidelines which are posted on the rack.
Use PlaytimeScheduler.com (PTS) to help balance court usage and arrange sessions. Please remember that PTS is NOT a reservation system and your group must abide by the guidelines above. Learn more about using PTS here.
Please do not arrange play sessions during CSPA Open Play, CSPA Round Robins, CSPA Clinics or other CSPA Events. Groups are welcome to play together during CSPA Open Play by respecting the Paddle Rack Guidelines when the courts are full.

Call out loudly if a ball is about to roll onto another court.

Do not cross behind or enter a court during a rally.
